Astéria
Food of the stars
“Tell me what you eat, and I’ll tell you who you are.”
JEAN ANTHELME BRILLAT-SAVARIN
Food is our philosophy
In Greece, this isn’t poetry – it’s practice. The food we share tells the story of who we are, and to gather around a table is to participate in something completely ancient yet utterly present. Astéria is Food Fund International’s thirteenth restaurant concept. The challenge was to craft a brand identity that would hold the paradox of the simple complexity of Greek food at its finest.
Ἀστερία “of the stars”
Forged from the fire of a naming workshop, Astéria was born. Connected to the night sky and prophetic dreams, the goddess Astéria created a bridge between heaven and earth. She transformed into the island, Delos, that was believed to be a place where the divine and mortal worlds intersected, and where mortals could receive guidance and blessings from the gods. At Astéria the restaurant, food is the bridge to the divine.
Our story lives on the plate
With forms inspired by the Greek alphabet, Astéria’s logo is quintessential, fundamental. Hand-stamped iconography nods to Greece’s elemental history of art, nature and culture. The colour palette echoes olive groves at dusk, warm terracotta, sun-baked stone and surprising moments of sea and citrus. Astéria’s verbal language is warm and refined – a constellation of stories, truisms and philosophy.
Food comforts us, helps us celebrate, helps us mourn, helps us honour, and connects us. Astéria, as a celebration of life itself, reinforces the greatest truth; that Greek food is an experience designed to be shared.
What does better feel like?
