As a wildly experienced production agency, afrokaans navigates clients, crew and creativity to make enduring productions that all involved are proud to be a part of. Our challenge was to invigorate the identity of a much-beloved glocal brand.
What, how, why?
We ran a series of workshops to get under their Cape Town sun-soaked skin. afrokaans may be boutique in size, but not in stature. They’re producing huge fan favourites. afrokaans isn’t edgy or disruptive. It’s everyman, held together by an offbeat charm and humour. Operating in an industry literally in motion, afrokaans needed a fresh, enthusiastic brand expression.
TV please
afrokaans makes TV, lives TV, loves TV. The identity goes direct and celebrates the drama, thrill and comfort of entertainment. At the heart of the logo design is a circular lens mnemonic that reflects a camera. The lens allows afrokaans to speak for itself and showcase the work. A family of illustrative elements add character, quirk and lift. An atypical colour palette and expressive graphic elements make the brand and afrokaans’ online real estate a dip into whimsy, adventure and genuine generosity.
Time to tell stories
What better way to inject curiosity and wit than by riffing and teasing our love affair with TV? We crafted a down-to-earth, mischievous tone of voice that takes the work, but never afrokaans, too seriously.
